History

Florexpo is a global leader in the production of unrooted cuttings based in Paraiso, Costa Rica. We continue to be a family owned business, with strong values, professional management and a best-in-class production process. Our origins date back 27 years ago when the late Fernando Altmann Ortiz, and his son Fernando Altmann Borbón established a small cut flower farm on the site we still operate from today.

A few years later Fernando Altmann Borbón bought the family business and in the early 1990’s developed a new business line: the production of unrooted cuttings. Over the years, he then led the growth of the business in this new direction to create the company we are today. Production protocols became stricter, we reached even more markets and our range of varieties increased. Thanks to the efforts of our dedicated workforce, by 2009 the company became one of the top ten cuttings producers in the world, as recognized by Greenhouse Growers Magazine.

Today, Florexpo is a partner to many internationally recognized breeders, with over 900 varieties and proprietary knowledge of cuttings production. We provide over 130 million cuttings to our customers across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

We put our customers first, providing them with products of superior quality and with a seamless experience from order to delivery. We are able to supply our products worldwide within 48 hours, from our production facilities in Costa Rica.
